Brief points of Shri L.K.Advani’s press conference to announce Border Darshan Campaign today 12th May 2011

Dear friends

I am happy to announce a unique National Campaign named Border Darshan aimed to create an awareness about the threats to our borders have from various factors and to prepare a report on the status of borders many of such areas having been abandoned by the residents due to various reasons and thus posing another aspect of a dangerous trend, and to express solidarity with the soldiers.

I am formally flagging off Border Darshan Campaign to mark the 110th birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on 14th May 2011, at 04 30 pm at my residence 30 Prithviraj Road.

A series of such programmes is being organized all over India to pay homage to the great martyr Dr. S. P. Mookerjee, a leader who sacrificed his life for maintaining the unity of our country.

I shall be attending some of the Border Darshan pilgrim sites like Port Blair in the Andamans and Chushul in Ladakh. Our Party President Shri Nitin Gadkari ji will also attend and address some Border Darshan Pilgrim sites along with other distinguished national leaders.

Many of our senior party leaders, veteran officers (retd) of the Forces, decorated soldiers and young Indians will join the programme at various places.

Spread till next April 2012, the Border Darshan Pilgrimage will be visiting Munsiyari, Nathu La, Tawang, Moirang, Port Blair, Lakshadweep, Okha, Jaisalmer, Uri, ( on PoK border) Lahaul and Spiti, Barahoti, Chushul finally terminating at Dehradun to be addressed by Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Sah Sarkaryavah of RSS and many other national stalwarts.

The first part, to Musnsiyari and Milum Glacier will start on 14th May at New Delhi, reach Haldwani on 15th May and move towards Munsiyari same morning with a huge gathering to be addressed by Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank , BJP State President B.S. Chufal , our national vice president Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, state BJP incharge Thawar Chand Gehlot and the leader of the campaign Shri Tarun Vijay.

You are requested to send a media team to join the campaign.

Please intimate the names of the media team your organization would be sending to Shri Tarun Vijay so that travel arrangements can be made.

Border Darshan is an idea to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great visionary that Dr. Mookerjee was. What better way to honor him than a pilgrimage to the border and honoring the brave soldiers who are sacrificing their life to maintain the unity and integrity of our country? While we, civilians are living a life with fashion trends, and enjoying our daily life, our brave soldiers are sweating, bleeding and freezing in conditions as inhospitable as sweltering Rajasthan, bleeding Manipur or the shivering Siachen. The yatra's mission is to awaken India about the threats to the Indian borders and to salute the brave soldiers guarding them.

Organized by Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, the young yatris drawn from all parts of the nation will be visiting these places covering the prominent border posts at which our soldiers are constantly facing challenges. The border pilgrimage would start on 14th May 2011 from Delhi where a scintillating movie on Vande Mataram will also be shown, created by famous nationalist film maker Ms. Pratibha Advani and be completed in April 2012. It would involve trekking with full of thrill and adventure too.
