Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee [July 6, 1901 - June 23, 1953] was a great nationalist political leader of India, and a source of inspiration for the followers of modern Nationalism. Mookerjee founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the unique nationalist political party of its kind, and was also the leader of the Hindu Mahasabha . He was closely associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Demanding complete merger of J&K with the rest of India and to end the divisive special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr.  Mookerjee led a nation wide mass movement and entered Jammu & Kashmir defying the permit law in May 1953, he was arrested on 11th May while crossing border. Although the ID card rule was revoked owing to his efforts, he died as detente on June 23, 1953 under mysterious circumstances.
